In Colibrí inducido a un sueño profundo (Hummingbird Induced into Deep Sleep) (2006), Ortega registers the sleep period of a hummingbird following a session of hypnosis. This small bird is distinguished by being an animal in constant motion; it is almost never seen at rest.

During production for this video, Ortega collaborated with an ornithologist to subject the hummingbird to a state of stupor through a natural method that consisted of modulating the temperature of the bird's habitat. Upon showing the hummingbird still and lethargic, the viewer can observe details of the specimen that otherwise, could not be appreciated. Through this gesture, the artist decelerates the rhythm of nature and invites us to contemplate it in a state of stillness that starkly contrasts with the noisy urban soundscape that can be heard in the background.
